Tohono Chul Park’s Annual Student Art Exhibit
– Tucson, AZ

This year’s annual student art exhibit will feature work from three Tucson area schools: Kino Learning Center, Green Fields Country Day School, St. Gregory College Preparatory School. The exhibit runs from June 12, throughout the rest of the summer until September 9 with each school featured in turn.

Every summer Tohono Chul Park’s galleries feature exhibits of artwork created by local students. The works demonstrate the value of art education where students are given another avenue for expressing their thoughts and ideas. In an era where young artists are bombarded by visual images from the mass media, students can learn to decipher the symbols and visual messages, examine the objects and events of their daily lives and those of other cultures, and to unravel the meaning and significance of the world around them. From the study of ancient Egypt to French Impressionists, students can learn about universal concepts throughout time and across cultures. They also can experiment by using different materials and processes create their own perspectives.

Exhibit is held in Tohono Chul Park’s Exhibit House from June 12 and runs until September 9 (closed on July 4). Students from three schools will display their work in turn.
The schedule is as follows:

  • June 12 – July 8: Kino Learning Center

  • July 10 – August 12: Green Fields Country Day School

  • August 14 – September 9: St. Gregory College Preparatory School

The exhibit is free with the cost of admission to Tohono Chul Park.
