At Smoketree Arabian Ranch, it's not just a ride - it's a journey.
Situated in the relaxed desert community of Borrego Springs, surrounded by Southern California's beautiful and vast Anza-Borrego Desert State Park; Smoketree Arabian Ranch offers equine guided education experiences with emphasis on leadership and reconnecting to yourself and others through partnership with horses. Don't forget your camera!

Smoketree Arabian Ranch Trail RidesGuided Desert Trail Rides: Guided Desert Trail Rides: Offering a unique new experience that gives you a chance to "join up" with a beautiful Arabian horse and then ride out into our spectacular desert for almost two hours, sign up for the "Horse Whispering" program. You will learn to groom, lead, and 'whisper' to your horse before you even ride.  The trail takes you to a big wash and a mountain of petrified wood. This program is for kids and adults 7 years and older, weighing in at under 210 pounds. $95 per person, this very special program is limited to 4 persons per session, and takes about 3 hours.
For riders with some experience, they will trailer the horses to a trail head and give you a real desert adventure. 4 ½ hours $185, and all day $245 per person.
For junior wranglers, age 3 years and up, Comet or Pepper Rose will take you for a short trail ride and then demand a carrot when you return. Bring a camera! $20 per wrangler. Reservations a must: (866) 408-1812, www.SmokeTreeArabianRanch.com

See a slide show / virtual tour of their riding programs at Borrego Springs Equine Adventures.

Summer Early Morning Horse Rides & Day Rides in the Mountains on the Pacific Crest Trail: Whispering in the desert, followed by a scenic personal trail ride through flowering desert willows. Also available, are all day rides in the mountains on the Pacific Crest Trail leaving from Ranchita.

Equine Guided Education & Leadership Development Program at Smoketree Institute LLC: Smoketree is a small intimate ranch with only five guest horses - this provides an opportunity to be part of a real horsemanship program. Smoketree Institute LLC now offers a series of programs led by Dr. Sandra Thorpe, where horses help us to develop our leadership skills through a variety of reflective activities. These exercises are not only fun, but also provide new insights as to one's goals, as the horse mirrors back one's intention and ability to communicate. The Leadership Programs revolve around self discovery, relationships, and spiritual harmony by allowing the authenticity of the horse to make metaphorical bridges to new ways of viewing old patterns. Here, the horses assist in developing the three C's - Creativity, Compassion and Communication. Why work with horses - they have no hidden agendas, they mirror what they see in us, can sense true intentions, allow us to be open and honest, and are non-judgmental. The Leadership Development programs at Smoketree Institute LLC are perfect for corporate leadership, teambuilding, and personal growth. For full details call Tel: (760) 767-5850 or visit www.SmokeTreeInstitute.com

Smoketree Institute teams with Palomar College with Equine Assisted Education Classes:

Family Bonding Retreats: Family bonding by interfacing with our beautiful Arabian horses from the ground- 1 ½ 5 days with overnight at Palm Canyon Resort. Half day "horse whispering" sessions with a guided trail ride.

Out West Native American Indian Adventure in the Heart of the Anza Borrego Desert – Smoketree Ranch and California Overland bring you a full day of history that you’ll never forget! Horses became an integral part of Native American life. By understanding the spiritual nature of Indian horse communication you will have the chance to feel the wonder of interfacing with a horse that understands you. Ga Wa Nee Pony Boy and Dr. Sandra Thorpe demonstrate and then you get to experience true horse communication.
Next, Joe Raffetto drives you in an open carrier for a visit to a real Kumeyaay village site, followed by a hike to the sacred pictographs. A fantastic surprise awaits those who hike a bit further. This program requires a reservation, and includes a tasty sack lunch at the ranch, while you of course, discuss your favorite horse!

Juan Bautista de Anza Charter School: Looking for a great way to learn? At Smoketree Ranch, we are planning a free public school fro grades 6, 7, and 8, that will open September 2008. Enrollment is limited to 15 students and is open to children from San Diego, Riverside and Imperial Counties. We will have 2 teachers and our pals the Arabian horses for learning reading, writing, and math.

As you can see, there are lots of fun horsey programs here at Smoketree.
