Key Crystals for the Chakras
By Bonnie McMillan of New Age Concepts

Crystals are used to heal and to bring balance, working through resonance and vibration. When healing and balancing chakras, the appropriate crystal or stone is placed on the chakra and left there for about 15 minutes. From the Root Chakra to the Crown Chakra, here’s a list of what crystals work best with each of the Seven Chakras.

ROOT CHAKRA: The Root Chakra, linked with the material world, is connected with the Earth. It stresses the importance of being grounded in the here and now Crystals which correspond to "earthy" colors - such as brown, grey, black, and red - are all suitable for this chakra. These suggestions will help ground and center you. Good examples of crystals and stones are Bloodstone, Smoky Quartz, Hematite, Tiger's Eye and Agate.

SACRAL CHAKRA:
The goals of emotional stability, creative expression, and experiencing pleasure in life, which relate to this chakra, are enhanced by the crystals suggested here. The association with the color range is a loose one. Suggestions vary from the pale, a silvery sheen of Moonstone to the golden and amber hues of Topaz, Citrine, and Carnelian. Also Rutilated Quartz.

SOLAR PLEXUS: The metaphor of the sun as related to the Solar Plexus core theme of power corresponds with the yellow hues of Third Chakra crystals. The crystals and stones suggested are Yellow Citrine, Sunstone, Malachite and Calcite.

HEART CHAKRA: Crystals that are useful to use on the Heart Chakra vary between the commonly associated color pink for "love", and green. The latter, particularly, is traditionally regarded as a psychologically balancing color, apt not just for the equilibrium of physical, mental, and emotional energies but also the balance between giving and receiving love. The crystals and stones suggested are Rose Quartz, Watermelon Tourmaline, Green Calcite, Aventurine and Green Jade.

THROAT CHAKRA: A major theme of the Throat Chakra is communication in all its forms, and this is achieved by the use of crystals of varying shades of blue. There are many suitable choices, so be guided by your intuition and select stones with which you have a personal affinity, rather than feel you are being dictated to in your choice. The stones and crystals suggested are Turquoise, Sodalite, Aquamarine, Celestite and Lapis Lazuli.

THIRD EYE: Crystals that enhance intuition and psychic abilities include those that resonate to bluish-purple indigo. Some crystals (e.g. Amethyst) can be used on more than one chakra. This is perfectly acceptable; the relevance will be influenced both by the variation in shade and the power of your intention. The stones and crystals suggested are Calcite, Amethyst, Azurite and Purple Fluorite.

CROWN CHAKRA: The clarity of perception and self-understanding achieved when the Crown Chakra functions properly, corresponds with the transparency of many crystals used for the Crown. Clear and colorless Quartz crystals are particularly useful, since all the rainbow colors combined in equal proportion produce white light. Stones and crystals suggested are Clear Quartz, Amethyst, Diamond and Herkimer Diamond.
