Getting
More of What We WANT During an Economic Downturn!

I
have been looking for ways to increase my success during this economic
downturn. My studies have led me to the discoveries I share below. The
result, referrals have increased by 400% from October 2007.
Three bullet points below summarize what I have learned:
-
Be more conscious of your positive and negative emotions.
Through the power of thinking (Think and Grow Rich, by Napoleon
Hill), reflect on your feelings throughout the different stages
of your day. Consider all day the results or your intention
(outcome) for each activity.
-
Add more fun, joy, and deliciousness into ALL of your life.
Consider your life to be the current of a fast moving stream.
Go with the flow. Look at those you know who seem to have
everything in life. Understand why it is that they have all
they WANT. (They are in the flow.)
-
Make those things you WANT in your life crystal clear.
This means writing those things you WANT on paper. Include what
it is that you WANT, the reason you believe you deserve it, and
why you WANT it. Be sure this ties to positive emotions.
The majority of small
business entrepreneurs go through life with to do lists, goals and
objectives, and maybe a business plan. We follow systems for how to do
it! Maybe our fathers or grandfathers did it this way so we do it that
way. We hire consultants and read self-help books to discover how to do
it. We become “Human Doings” rather than “Human Beings.”
Most us learn to
follow a dogma. We learn it from our colleagues, bosses, parents,
teachers, and friends. We look at their success and tell ourselves that
as long as we do things the same way we will be as successful.
Comparison is good to discover what we WANT. Passion for what we WANT
brings us closer to getting what we WANT. Why is it then, that when we
WANT and do the things necessary to be successful, we often come up
short?
Have you experienced
the person that says, “I tried that and it did not work?” Yet someone
else does the same thing and has magnificent results. As example one of
my financial planning clients has doubled his business every year for
nearly seven years. The year we connected he was concerned that he
might not double. I showed him what to do. That year he doubled. I
thought it was due to what I showed him to do. It helped however,
reflecting back on this individual, he loves what he does. He has been
in business for seven years. He was interested in this business six
years prior to becoming a financial planner. He has had a passion for
the business for over a decade. He loves what he does (positive
emotions.) Do you love what you do?
I am sure that people
who work side by side with this fellow are asking, “How does he do it?”
The answer is simple. He has a passion for what he creates. I mean
everything in his life is delicious. It starts with every interaction,
relationship, personal and business creation. He considers bringing
fun, joy, and deliciousness into every aspect of life. What I am
suggesting is to be more involved with the thought creation process.
Create with conscious thought what it is that you WANT. Make it joyful.
Now you might ask,
“What do I mean by thought creation process?” Again I liken this to
being shown what to do. How often during the day do you check how you
feel? Are you one of those people who gets up starting the day with
something bad happening? Then you tell yourself it is going to be a bad
day. Then it is a bad day. Or, on the other hand, do you tell yourself
that you have the choice to make this a good day, measuring throughout
your day (through thought) how good you can really make your day?
