The
Duquesne House
Bed & Breakfast
Built in 1898, as a boarding house for miners,
this Historic Adobe Inn offers Charm, Quiet,
Ambiance & Delightful Breakfasts!
This
historic adobe inn, originally built as a boarding
house for miners, and nestled on the original main
street of Patagonia, offers charm, quiet, privacy
and delicious breakfasts. Relax and watch the
world go by sitting on one of the front porch
bancos or take a leisurely nap in the back patio
hammock. The terraced back yard has two patios,
several cozy seating areas, a fire pit for chilly
evenings, and a pleasing array of flowering
plants, cacti, butterflies, and birds, as well as
a wonderful view of the Patagonia Mountains. A
full breakfast is served in the dining room every
morning. All accommodations are very private with
individual, outside entrances and private baths.
Each of the three suites, with its own entrance,
sitting room, bedroom, bath and a rear door that
opens onto the back porch, is a cozy but spacious
retreat for two and comfortable lodging for four.
Each suite is colorfully painted and uniquely
decorated with rustic Mexican furniture and folk
art, hand stitched quilts, and cross stitch
samplers.
The
Rollin R. Richardson Suite, named after the man
who founded Patagonia and built The Duquesne
House, features hand carved wooden chairs from
Mexico and a beautiful wrought iron bed. Colorful
hand painted flowers frame the bedroom mirror and
brightly painted chili peppers surround the front
door.
The
colorful and charming decor in Miss Medley's Suite
was inspired by a trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico.
The wood burning stove, claw foot tub, Guatemalan
textiles, and Mexican bark paintings add a cozy
charm to the desert pastels of the wall
stenciling.
Marguerite's
Suite features two antique needlepoint chairs and
a wrought iron canopy bed, as well as an heirloom
wall hanging appliquéd with pink roses. Look
inside the antique Mexican trunk to discover the
decals that tell the story of someone's many
travels.
The
studio apartment, El Cuarto Bonito, includes a
kitchenette, T.V., and large, tiled walk-in
shower. Walk under the rose covered trellis to its
private front door and then relax with a book on
its cozy enclosed back porch.
