Dobson
Museum
For some - a trip down
memory lane, and for others - a fun and unique glimpse into the past.
Just east of Yuma, Arizona;
in a small town where few go, Tacna, has been home to the Dobson Museum
since it was opened for tours in 1979. the Dobson family had a thought
to own a place where people of all ages could gather to see things of
the past. They began collecting antiques from Canada to the USA, and
once they had enough, the project began. Over the years they have
continued to build their dream by donations as well as trips to antique
sales.
Today,
the Dobson Museum Tour will give you the opportunity to see many
buildings depicting how things really were long ago. Most of the old
structures that you will see are from Yuma, Wellton, Tacna and Roll
areas. As you tour them, you will hear the fascinating history of each
and how it came to be part of the Museum. The buildings are also filled
with relics appropriately placed where they would have been when they
were in use.
The Store is a favorite exhibit, and features lots of tins on the
shelves, advertisements, fruit, mail, and more. It is wondrous to think
that all was in one place and everyone gathered there. The School House
and Barber Shop are filled with antiques that set the scene for each
building. The Blacksmith Shop area is overflowing with engines and other
tools of the trade. Fun for those who like to count the state plates on
trips, The Gas Station features a grand collection of license plates,
old pumps, and other automotive necessities. If you love tractors - this
is your place! The rows and rows of tractors you will see have been
worked on so that they will run with a little of Bill's (Windy's son)
sweat, when he is available to start them. The museum has many other
items to enjoy, and Windy's tour is fun and educational.

Our Mission:
Our Mission: "Big Blend Magazine is a company based on the belief that education is the most formidable weapon that can be waged against fear, ignorance and prejudice.
It is our belief that education starts at
home and branches outward. Education leads to travel, and
travel leads to understanding, tolerance, and appreciation
of cultures and customs different to our own, and ultimately
to world peace. Our company is further based on the
principle that networking, communication, and helping others
to promote and market themselves leads to financial
stability; thus paving the way to better education, travel,
and the spirit of giving back to the community." |
