Outlaws Connected to Tulare County
in Central California
A Radio Interview with History Buff & Writer,
Terry Ommen

Tulare County in Central California has had its share of the old wild west’s outlaw activity with characters like Grat Dalton and the Dalton Gang, Christopher Evans and John Sontag; the notorious Black Bart; bandito Tiburcio Vasquez; ex-convict and murderer Jim McKinney; and murderer James McCrory.  To find out more about these crazed outlaws we interviewed Terry Ommen, Tulare County history buff, history columnist for the Fresno Bee newspaper, and board member of the Tulare County Historical Society. Retired as Visalia’s Police Captain and boasting his Bachelors Degree in Criminology, Terry knows how to read between the lines and separate fact from fiction – which is always a fun thing when it comes to western history.
