Originally occupied by the Hohokan Tribe [called prehistoric desert people] from 200 B. C. to 145 A. D., the Hohokan people were known as the most skilled irrigation farmers in the southwest and developed some of the most elaborate canal systems ever made, and some are still in use today. This highly developed culture saw the importance of communicating with the local neighbors and where the first people to initiate trade between them (Anasazi and Mogollan tribes).
