About Redlands, California

Over 64,000 people enjoy living in Redlands, which is located in Southern California, just 60 miles east of the metropolis of Los Angeles, at the intersection of Highway 30 and Interstate 40.

Incorporated in 1888, Redlands gets its name from the adobe colored soil it’s made up of. Redlands was once part of the Spanish Mission Lands until the railroad in the early 1920s helped bring a large influx of wealthy easterners and mid-westerners into the area. Bringing with them their cultures, traditions, and treasures; they transformed Redlands into the cultural, educational, and agricultural region it is today. Redlands is also home to the University of Redlands, and is known as the Navel Orange Capital of the world.
