Jon
Roniger Jon Roniger’s heartfelt
roots rock is a truly American slice of songwriting. Adding
his unique voice to the lineage of great U.S. artists, Roniger
brings to the table music that touches on the human spirit
without pretence and with much emotional power. Capturing the
passion and power of what it means to be us, his songs are
mirrors into which we each can look and see ourselves.
Roniger’s
songwriting masterfully captures the keen colors of the human
heart, embodying the full array of feelings of which we are
capable. “Music makes me feel euphoria, desire, loneliness,
nostalgia, sorrow and elation,” Roniger says. And his intense
emotional life can be heard in each of his songs as he
explores hurt and happiness, love and sadness, shying away
from nothing, embracing everything from love to heartbreak
with equal fervor.
Soul’s Voice - Roniger’s
music achieves the depth of feeling it does because of his
songwriting philosophy. “Music is the soul’s voice,” he says.
That’s the fulcrum of his beliefs, that music is the inner
self speaking outwardly. Music not written honestly and
without fear or restraint is artificial and lacks true
feeling. “There is no other form of communication that is
understood so deeply,” Roniger says.
The
Artist at Work -
Roniger has shared the stage with such artists as Big Head
Todd and the Monsters, The Samples, Stroke 9, Luce and others.
He tours regularly with a focus on acoustic music of late.
Roniger just finished a two-year tour stateside and two tours
in Ireland and the United Kingdom. He has recorded a new album
at Nashville’s 16 Ton Recording Studios on Music Row slated
for early 2008 release; it’s called “Charmed Life.” It was
produced by Robert Reynolds (The Mavericks, Swag) and Jim
Reilley (New Dylans, Curb Writer). He will be returning to
Ireland and the UK in 2008. Roniger is involved in a project
in which he releases a song per week for his “Songs in the
Raw” Blog. He is currently working with A&R Select, the
leading indie A&R firm in Hollywood, CA. “Jon Roniger’s music is
full of heart and smarts.” – A&R Select

Roniger CD Reviews by The Big Blend Magazine
‘Charmed
Life’ – Review by
Lisa Smith – March 2008
Jon Roniger
excels as a musician and songwriter, and his third album
‘Charmed Life’ is simply outstanding. This guy just keeps
growing and outdoing himself. He spins a good tale, and his
songs really stand out with poetic lyrics that conjure up
vivid images whilst serving you a platter of sheer honesty –
and let’s not forget his talent for reaching right into your
soul and lightly brushing your heart with a story that
connects. From the horns on ‘Believe’ to the electric ‘Falling
Star’, the music and lyrics are a dynamic marriage that flows
with just the right amount of rhythm and the perfect dose of
soul. Offering the perfect song to answer every mood or
feeling, this album is unforgettable. I personally can’t wait
to play it on a road trip.
‘My World’ –Review by
Lisa Smith - May 2005. In his new album 'My World', Jon
Roniger - an exceptional storyteller, takes you on a fantastic
joy ride through all the big moments and all those little
moments that build a love story. Offering a matter-of-fact,
honest, heartfelt and sometimes ironic look at life, 'My
World' has just the right amounts of the good stuff. It's an
awesome acoustic album that features Roniger and Rico
Mastrodonato on guitar, Eamonn Flynn on the piano, and
percussionist Mark Abbott.
From the cool boogie and blues piano in 'Medicine Man' to the
awesome finger-picking guitar in 'Not My Life' and 'Deston
Eve' - these guys are polished and musically joined at the
hip. Back-up vocalist Jeanette McNamara has a beautifully
deep, yet light and bright voice. On songs like 'Maybe' and
'Heart Like Ice', her and Roniger's harmonies are outstanding
- they flow dynamically just like Fleetwood Mac or even the
Mamas & Papas. My World' was produced by Jon Roniger and Joel
Jaffe.
‘Addicted’
- Review by Lisa Smith – Oct. 2004.
Not leaving any leaf unturned when it comes to composition,
dynamics, or the use of instruments - singer songwriter Jon
Roniger is truly a master of his craft. 'Addicted' rings with
a realism that we can all identify with in our own fashion,
reminding us that people are people, and beneath it all - we
all have some kind of emotion that runs through our veins.
Jon's got one of those intimate raw voices that get you really
listening to the lyrics - and let's not forget about the
awesome harmonies. You'll hear something new every time you
listen to this album. It's got a major dose of originality and
if you try to compare Jon to anyone else - you'll be picking
out the good stuff from the pros-including Mellencamp, Elvis
Costello, and even The Rolling Stones.
