About Moab, Utah

Located 4625 feet above sea level, over 4,000 residents of Moab enjoy the majestic scenery of this southeastern part of Utah, which is situated in the heart of the Colorado Plateau just 4 miles from the entrance of the Arches National Park, and 30 miles east of the Canyonlands National Park. The area boasts an average high of 71 degrees, a low of 39 degrees, and a monthly average of about an inch of rain and snow. In the higher elevations surrounding the city, the occasional summer thunderstorms create cascading waterfalls that flow down from sandstone cliffs, and the winter snow makes for a spectacularly scenic view while skiing or snowmobiling. The summer climate offers an enormous opportunity for hiking, camping, fishing, and golf for all to enjoy.

Many centuries ago, when dinosaurs roamed the muddy valley floor, they left behind numerous fossil skeletons and tracks in the now sandstone floor. These fossil remains have created lots of prehistoric archeological sites throughout the area, giving speculation to the region’s historic past.
