THIS
JUST IN!
St.
Paddy's Day Party -
From
Boxty to Irish Stew, and Bangers & Mash, Chris Perrin 'The Party Food
Dude' shares his menu of authentic Irish dishes and an Irish
inspired-cocktail called an 'Irish Grasshopper' you can make to ring in
St. Paddy’s Day. Heck, you can even make it the next day if you have a
hangover!
The
Perfect St. Patrick’s Day Feast
-
Corned beef and cabbage is the Irish-American traditional dish for St.
Patrick’s Day, as corned beef is rarely eaten in Ireland anymore. Kat
Caverly 'The Greetums Lady' shares her favorite recipe for Corned Beef &
Cabbage - serve it with Irish soda bread and a pint of Guinness!
Lucky
Blarney Night - Around the world, and across time, people have
gathered for storytelling. On March 13, storytellers will be telling
tales of Luck and Blarney to celebrate St. Patrick's Day for an all ages
audience. All of the storytellers have local popularity, and some of the
tellers are nationally, and internationally known. This will be held at
The First Lutheran Church in Vista, CA.
Spring
Fling at Verde Canyon Railroad
- Those who envision Arizona as a dry and colorless place have never
witnessed the dazzling display of Spring in Bloom in the Verde Canyon.
Under multi-hued canyon walls, the first flush of satiny green leaves
adorn cottonwoods and willows as the canyon floor erupts in gaudy
bouquets of wildflowers. The Verde Canyon Railroad celebrates this
joyous season with gala events on the round-trip ride from Clarkdale to
Perkinsville.
Happy
Holi - A Colorful End to Winter -
Across the world and in almost every
culture, spring is heralded by celebrations. Fertility, the end of cold
weather, bleak landscapes warm up and flowers bloom. We celebrate the
birth of spring in a variety of ways.
St.
Patrick's Day -
the History & Traditions
St. Patrick's Day, March 17, is in honor of Ireland's patron saint,
Patrick. He was born in Scotland near the end of the fourth
century. Irish raiders captured Patrick when he was around
16 years old. He was taken to Ireland as a slave, and worked as a shepherd.
Apparently it was then that he turned to religion for solace, becoming a devout Christian.
