Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park:
Encompassing 323 acres, the Arboretum is Arizona's oldest and
largest botanical garden. View desert plants, trees, cacti, a
streamside forest, panoramic vistas, natural habitats with
varied wildlife, a desert lake, specialty gardens including a
demonstration garden, and visit the Smith Interpretive Center,
and Visitor Center. There are picnic facilities, a gift shop and

Tonto National Forest:
The fifth largest forest in the US, and encompassing almost 3
million acres from the Sonoran Desert to the ponderosa
pine-forested Mogollon Rim, the Tonto National Forest is one of
the most-visited “urban” forests in the U.S. Recreation
activities include boating and fishing, water sports, camping,
picnicking, hiking, rock-hounding and prospecting, sightseeing
and picnicking. There are nearly 900 miles of National Forest
System Trails to enjoy horse riding, hiking, and mountain
