About Fallbrook

Fast becoming a destination for the finer things in life, Fallbrook is a small, scenic town just a thirty minute drive inland from the Pacific Ocean.

Murals and sculptures are displayed throughout the "Village" and other parts of town where the streets are lined with art galleries like the co-op Brandon Gallery, the Pinnell Gallery or the Fallbrook Fine Art Gallery. The Art Center hosts exhibits every month, including the well-known Wildlife Art Show, the National Art Gourd Show and the Galaxy of Glass show. The Artworks of Fallbrook, a bronze foundry, lets visitors see the entire bronzing process, and The Art Studios has three working studios that hold classes and workshops in various mediums, throughout the year. Just a short drive out of town to Palomares House, run by the Land Conservancy, there is a sculpture garden that depicts the flora and fauna of the region.

Early rural California/Fallbrook living is preserved and displayed in the Fallbrook Historical Society Museum and the Pittenger House, a turn-of-the-century farmhouse that is furnished with period pieces, vintage cars and farm implements. In the main Museum you can see historic Fallbrook in miniature, complete with a working model train.

Wining and dining is a real pleasure in Fallbrook. From light snacks and great coffee at the Farmhouse Coffee Company--to Mediterranean fare served at Cafe des Artistes (which also houses an old-time soda fountain that serves real fountain drinks)--to wine tasting at The Fallbrook Winery, one of the leaders in California’s emerging South Coast region--you can experience it all.

Specialty shopping is a must during your visit. Boutiques like Divas and Caravan boast the latest trends and carry exotic to classic fashions and accessories--while Wee Little Sprouts caters to the tots with toys, clothing and accessories.

It’s temperate climate, rainfall and fertile soil, make it the perfect place to garden and farming is a part of Fallbrook’s history and economic foundation. Your can tour Rusty Acres Herb Farm and the flower fields at Daylily Hill, as well as visit several nurseries like Myrtle Creek Nursery where you wander down path after path of flowers, shrubs, trees and fountains.

The natural beauty of Fallbrook makes it an ideal place for hiking, riding and birding. Home to the Santa Margarita River, the last free-flowing river in Southern California, it is one of the most scenic spots in California. Hiking areas include panoramic views of Palomar Mountain, lookouts over the Santa Margarita Valley, vistas of the Pacific Ocean, peaceful meadows lined with sycamores, willows and oaks, and bird-rich wetlands habitats--all protected and maintained by the Land Conservancy. There is also tennis and golf at the resorts, like Pala Mesa, which has an award-winning 18-hole, par 72 course.

Fallbrook offers resort accommodations or if you are looking for a more intimate setting, try the Blue Heron Farm Bed and Breakfast. Visit Fallbrook any time of year--an oasis of culture and art in a garden setting.
