JULY 2008
July 13-15: 4th Annual Baja Rosario Festival:
A cultural festival celebrating the founding of the first Dominican mission, Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Viñadaco, by Friar Vicente Mora in July of 1774. The three-day event features rodeos, horse races, nightly dances with live music, a beauty pageant, carnival rides, regional foods, an art exposition and tours of mission sites, museums and other local points of interest. Aug. 1-17: 18th Annual Vendimia Festival / Harvest Fiestas:
Features a series of cultural, musical & culinary events. This popular fair is in commemoration of the birth of the wine, where the main vineyards of the region participate. Aug. 16: Colors of the Harvest Fiesta 2008: Blessing of the first harvest, stepping/stomping of the grapes, wine tasting, country style food, bullfights and dances, colors of vendimia. Sept. 13-14: Independence Horse Back Ride 2008:
A 4-5 hour guided horseback riding adventure in the Sierra de Juarez. Registration fee includes meals and overnight camping (bring your own tent and equipment) at Rancho El Alamar. Sept. 27: 29th Annual Fall Rosarito-Ensenada Fun Bicycle Ride: Over 7,500 cyclists participate in this scenic 50-mile ride along the Free Road that starts in downtown Rosarito Beach and finishes in Ensenada with a fiesta from noon-sunset at Plaza Ventana al Mar on the waterfront at the giant flagpole. Oct. 10-1: 30th Annual Fish & Seafood International Festival: A contest of dishes and art. Calle Tercera No. 551-1 3er piso, Plaza Gastelum, Zona Centro. Tel. 174-0448

Oct. 12: Celebration Anniversary of the Real One of Castillo: Festivities in honor of the first capital of the Te North Baja California territory. This full day event begins at 10am. just 12 km off the Ojos Negros unpaved road. All attending the event are invited to dress just in the fashion of the end of century XVIII (1870-1899). Country Music, dances; and the most original custom will be awarded with gold. A donation by vehicle will be requested. El Real del Castillo, B.C. Oct. 17-19: 28th Annual Mexican Surf Fiesta: International Tournament of surfing, sanctioned by the ASP (Surfing Professionals Association) world circuit organization. Renowned surfers from Mexico and Southern California will gather for two days of arduous competition in this surf hot spot beach. A purse of 25,000 $ USD cash is up for the taking. 6am. NOVEMBER 2008
Nov. 19-22: 41st Annual Baja 1000 Off-Road Race:
Chronicled in the 2005 full length feature documentary “Dust to Glory,” the Baja 1000 is the legendary off-road race in which more than 400 cars, trucks, motorcycles and ATVs challenge nearly 1,300 miles of rugged mountain, forest and desert terrain in their attempts to “Beat the Baja.” Starts at 6am, Blvd. Costero in front of Riviera del Pacífico Convention Center. DECEMBER 2008
Dec. 12-14: 275 Ensenada-San Felipe Off Road Race: Starts in Ojos Negros and concludes in San Felipe, B.C., passing through Ojos Negros, Black Eyes, El Alamo, Jamao, Valle de la Trinidad, San Matías, etc. This will be last stage of the national Off Road championship.
