Cat Haven
Dale Anderson – Founder & Director, Project Survival’s Cat Haven,
Dunlap, CA

Founded in 1993 with the purchase of 100 scenic acres just west of King's Canyon National Park, the Cat Haven offers guided tours of some of the rarest cats in the world including Amur Leopard, Bobcat, Caracal, Cheetahs, Clouded Leopard, Dark Leopard, Jaguar, Jaguarundi, Lion, Persian Leopard, Siberian Lynx, Snow Leopard, and Tiger.  It is an innovative park dedicated to the preservation of wild cats, specializing in education and engaged in both captive and range country conservation. It is this link to the conservation of cats in their native habitat which makes the work of the Cat Haven especially meaningful. The facility is not a rescue organization. Their wild cats are chosen carefully for their contributions to education and conservation. For more details – Click Here.

This region is blessed with unique and diverse habitats and species owing to dramatic elevation changes, rivers cascading from high in the Sierra and the seasonal extremes of our Mediterranean climate. The San Joaquin Valley and adjoining foothills also rank among the most productive agricultural regions in the world. The Sequoia Riverlands Trust owns and manages seven preserves, protecting 4,565 acres; and through partnerships with dedicated landowners, they hold 14 voluntary conservation agreements, protecting 2,654 acres. International Wildlife Museum, Kristine Massey
Kristine Massey – Education Curator, International Wildlife Museum, Tucson, AZ
Kristine Massey is the Education Curator at the International Wildlife Museum in Tucson, AZ. After five years at the museum, she has realized that no two days are the same. Some days involve tour groups of senior citizens or school children, while others consist of writing signs and designing exhibits. Originally from Atlanta, GA, Kristine received her Master’s in education from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX, and her Bachelor’s in environmental science from Catawba College in Salisbury, NC.  In the time between those two school adventures, she taught outdoor and environmental education in Texas, Alaska and Pennsylvania.  Kristine loves to travel and has ventured as far away as Ireland and Costa Rica. Our Mission: "Free Spirit Promotions (publisher of Big Blend Magazine) is a company based on the belief that education is the most formidable weapon that can be waged against fear, ignorance and prejudice. It is our belief that education starts at home and branches outward. Education leads to travel, and travel leads to understanding, tolerance, and appreciation of cultures and customs different to our own, and ultimately to world peace. Our company is further based on the principle that networking, communication, and helping others to promote and market themselves leads to financial stability; thus paving the way to better education, travel, and the spirit of giving back to the community."
