About Camp Verde, Arizona

Camp Verde is located 86 miles north of Phoenix in the Yavapai County of Arizona, and is close to Arizona communities and destinations including Cottonwood, Verde Village, Clarkdale, Sedona, and Jerome.

Camp Verde has a hot and arid climate, though its summer monsoon rains pleasantly cool down the area. The eighteen meandering miles of the Verde River that flow through the town, creates numerous lakeside properties and water related activities. The small 11,000 base of residents enjoy a rural family lifestyle centered in this lush Verde River Valley. The Valley is a virtual wildlife habitat wonderland boasting eagles, hawks, blue herons, beavers, and otters - all of which live together here.

Ranching, farming, construction, and a small service industry comprise the economic basis of the community. Outdoor activities such as horseback riding, hiking, camping, kayaking, and fishing are enjoyed by residents and visitors alike. Local attractions include Montezuma's Castle National Monument, Montezuma's Well, Fort Verde, Yavapai Apache Cultural Center, Out of Africa Wildlife Park, the Verde Canyon Railway and more.
